These 2 recipes are from my Nana's cookbook. She kept a notebook which she added to over the years, which included clippings from newspapers, re-written recipes from her mother, recipes from friends through out her life. The ' Mrs. Rundell ' whose Gingerbread is included here is from Boulder- where Nana lived in the early 1900's. The ' Carolyn' referred to would be my graunt Carrie, who I can't believe my Nana got along with well enough to borrow a recipe from. Nana was b. in the early 1880's, Aunt Carrie 1898 or so, still and always a tensely if quietly volatile mix. You know that old adage " Children should be seen and not heard " ? HAPPY to, around those 2 in the same room.
