Well, Germany's loss was our gain. 1.4 million "Germans" immigrated to the US between 1880 and 1890.
Restricting the political rights of Socialists and the religious rights of Catholics was a bad move on the part of Bismarck, and was a warning sign to the Jewish minority in Germany also.
