There is quite literally no excuse for why this turned out tiny... I measured just about everything wrong. I can't even find anybody in my family with a head small enough for it to fit on. However, while it made, I might as well share it... And once again get input on it
: )

Not made out of any material that's of high quality, and it's pretty obvious that its faux leather making the brim and the chin strap.
The crown of the cap is made of two pieces of cardboard, with a single piece of fabric over them both, sewed together in a way to make that double sandwich look I see all the time on original photos, or reproductions... whether this is actually a couple pieces of pasteboard sandwiched or not, I dunno... I just copy what I see.

The body doesn't have the band the Kepi does, as I also noticed in original photos... I did this by sewing about an inch of the fabric to a thin carboard band, and folded it inwards... It worked in my opinion, and should I add a liner, it more than likely wouldn't show... Once again, I only do what I see.

The 'leather' brim is my attempt at making a "bound leather" brim. It of course was very primitive, and hand sewn... Likely, I'd do a single piece of unbound leather, because its easier...

If there is any recommendations about the physical look or build of the forage cap, that would be appreciated... I understand already the need for better fabric and materials, so that would simply be preaching to the choir....
Or, if you know of a trusted place to purchase a proper pattern, that would be just as helpful...

Quite possibly,

Wow. No comments. Have you done another in the mean time?

Only a little late to respond... And, no, not a small one. I've made a few forage caps sense, but only one is worth using. Its currently my reenacting cap. I don't recall if I posted it or not. I've dropped out of hat making quite a bit because of my job, and other life things. Though, when I'm off to college, I may try and pick it up once more.

I've made a bunch with imitation felt and once with wool blanket material. Tedium. Some came out good. Its a red that makes that extra ring on the pasteboard. I left that out.
Cheers!
