Here's the background to the Louisiana confederate artillery button I found a few months ago.

What makes you think that's Confederate? Surely the seller would ask for more than $4.99 if it was.

Looks just like a French artillery button. Never seen a French button with a weak backmark but the picture I just posted shows a very weak confederate one. It's probably not and I'm no expert, but I thought it was the right thing to do to post the listing here.

I only know Louisiana used the design.

Who is the maker on the back? Where were they located? Is that a "N.O" at the bottom of the back mark which could stand for New Orleans?
