For anyone who'd like to know a bit more about James H. Merrill and his firearms, please go to jameshmerrilltribute.smugmug.com. I'm hoping to make some trips this year to add to the website (e.g. Maryland Historical Society archives research).
Fantastic Job Eric. I'm glad to see all your research come to fruition that can be shared by all. Thank You Sir for all your research and the willingness to share. Please keep us updated as you post more content.
I've added loads more content, prettied up lots of page layouts, and this morning added a page detailing Merrill's new manufactory after he outgrew the 4th/5th floors at the Sun Iron Building, and transition to the Pearl Hominy Company. I gotta make a trip to Baltimore and hit the MDHS archives...
So I have an 1856 Harpers Ferry rifle with Merrill conversion. 46 inch barrel. Any idea how many of this model were converted? I have been offered the same $ amount by two gun collectors if I wish to part with it.
