The pic of the 3rd guy is actually wearing overalls and not an apron. Are there any patterns or descriptions for the overalls of the period? Nice impression. Thanks so much. The third picture is just what I needed for a presentation I am doing at the Starkville Civil War Arsenal. I will post a picture of my impression after I complete the program tomorrow.

Nice group of examples. I like the bottom chap where the rain cover is obvious. It is a separate piece over the cap.
Very good impression. Looks interesting. Here's my impression of a mid-nineteenth century mechanic (a person who works with machines). The program that I do at the museum is Mass Production During the American Civil War and the Role Civilans Played in the War Effort. Come visit when you can.

I also do impressions of artificers, so I use different head gear styles and aprons (both leather and painted canvas).

Yeah - manly as he may think he looks, he isn't really fooling anyone.I remember seeing a picture of a young Henry Ford in a mechanic's hat.
The kid in the second picture is sort of young for that cigar - his mommy should spank him!
