I have a chance to pick up a Maynard Carbine, 1865. No bluing left but clean bore and smoothly operating action. The person wants $1200. I don't know the market on this kind of carbine. Is this a ball park reasonable price for an arm I would say was NRA Good Antique. Thanks

Romano makes and sells a replica of the Maynard Type I carbine. The "Suggested Retail Price" of said carbine is $3495.00-which is almost 3 times the asking price of that original Maynard Type II Carbine for sale.

Yea...that's a good fair price. Especially if seller gives you 3 day or so full return if not pleased.
Price range is usually a little higher for those $1500-$1700 range.

Maynards are fine shooters too. Brass cartridge cases are available from several suttlers as are molds.
