Maps are laminated!

At the September visit I purchased the Field Maps at the Visitor Centre. I jokingly said to @LoriAnn at the time that I might get these laminated to protect them. So last week I did just that! Really happy with the result too. Here they are on the floor of my study. For good measure I had the "Touring the Battlefield" guide map done as well.

Now I have some questions for @lelliott19 and @Tom Elmore about the recent discussions on Woffords Brigade that I'll post on that thread

How did you get the big maps laminated, @PeterT? Did you take them to a poster shop? I want to do this, because I have already worn out 1 of my 2 Driving Tour Maps!

As a cartography hoarder i am jealous!

I was last at Gettysburg ~20 years ago... i have hundreds of ACW-themed maps, but not THESE.

What did they cost? Is there an online source by chance?

@PeterT and I were with @Frums in the Gettysburg Visitor Center, and he (Frums) insisted that we needed to have these maps. Dutiful CW reference material hoarders that we are, Peter and I immediately snatched up the map packet. They are sold as a group under the name of Field Maps, Battle of Gettysburg/ a project of Gettysburg Foundation/ Dr. Thomas A Desjardin, Cartographer.

I went to a laminating/framing shop nearby. Total cost was approx. US$25.

I can't see where you can buy them online, but I only had a quick look. You could contact Gettysburg Foundation.

Also they did a great job flattening out the creases. So watch out for that.

@PeterT I went to the UPS store and was given a quote for laminating the 4 maps: $18 a page!! It would be cheaper if I sent them to Oz and back I am going to try the framing store tomorrow..
