Making a Wedge Tent

Good Afternoon, I've been in the market for a decently priced wedge tent so my wife can join me in the hobby however due to economic issues most are out of our price range after all of the expenses for her attire. So I thought to myself "We could save some money by making one ourselves, plus we both like a good project"
The question is; does anyone have any resources, advice, or experience on A-Frame (wedge) tents, the specifics on their construction and how to make them.

I wouldn't bother. From what I understand, after all is said and done, the sutlers that offer authentic tentage tend to break even or make very little on the product. So you're not really saving any money, assuming you do it right the first time and don't need extra materials. And considering your question, I'm going to assume this will be your first and you'll probably have to use extra material.

My wife has made all manner of costumes & flags for living history programs at Stones River. We have a passel of great & granddaughters who have participated since they were arm babies.

I asked her about sewing canvas for a tent. "Don't even think about it," was her reply. In order to sew heavy material like tent canvas a commercial sewing machine is required. It also requires a very large space to work in.

My family & I have known these folks for decades. It is a family owned & run business of long standing. They stand behind what they sell. If you call them the person who answers the phone will be knowledgeable & dedicated to customer service of the first order.

Yeah as already said sewing canvas is a whole different animal, by the time you get the materials, tools, and your time I don't think you'd be ahead of the game. I bought an A Frame years ago for when my better half wants to go. When solo I use shelter halves or nothing at all in nice weather. I got it from Blockade Runner and was really happy with it, still in great shape and still being used once and a while, and it didn't break the bank. And when you do buy or make one spend a fee extra dollars for a two door. Worth every penny in hot weather.

A rain fly can be quite a comfort, too.
