Maine 9th Question

Working on a Civil War project on local soldiers, I have come across two from the Maine 9th who were dishonorably discharged on different dates but both in the summer of 1865. Checking the reports for the rest of the regiment, I found several others. As far as I can determine, the 9th was in Raleigh, NC (having just joined with Gen. Sherman). A request to NARA came back with the reply that there were no records--but this is what NARA always says.

Can anyone tell me why several men might have been dishonorably discharged (all at roughly the same time)? Was there some sort of incident in Raleigh?
