Hi there, I think this is relevant here...

I've just picked up this practice socket bayonet here in the UK... not something I have seen before so I took a punt on it and bought it for £170 ($215). Apparently its an M1816 socket bayonet that has been cut down to accommodate a 'baleen' made practice blade (which had a 1" rubber ball at the end of it).

It is stamped with K18 and T2

There is a very useful reference page I found that explains more about them: (https://worldbayonets.com/Bayonet_I..._States__19th_Century_/us_19th_century_2.html)

As I say rare over here in the UK as 'we' did not have a practice bayonet like this at the time...Are they scarce / collected in the US as well?... did I do OK on price?

Best Jon
