Looking into William Quarles' Brigade

I am doing research for a new google doc on the Army of Tennessee over the time of the Georgia Campaign. I decided to dig up a few of my books on the campaign in order to get as much info as I can glean. In doing so, I have pulled up Brad Butkovich's "The Battle of Pickett's Mill". In his OOB, he claims that Quarles Brigade fielded 1329 men, with 360 in 4th Louisiana & 340 in 30th Louisiana. The specific figures for the latter two come from John S. Kendall's article on the Fourth Louisiana from the Confederate Veteran magazine. I do not know how to access this to ascertain the numbers used, but I can look into the O.R. cited for the brigade number. Butkovich cites O.R. Volume 38, Part III, pg. 860.

However, looking up this citation, leads not to anything relating to Quarles' Brigade, but to a report by the 13th Louisiana of Gibson's Brigade, Stewart's Division, Hood's Corps.

So, this leaves me at a dead end. Does anyone know where Butkovich could have gotten this figure from? It is oddly specific to be a random guess.

I decided to check my theory that Butkovich just miswrote his citation, and so, I went back to what wwould be the previous volume for the theater involved, 32, same part same page, and found a return that includes Quarles' Brigade, sans 30th Louisiana.

It appears he used PFD returns for it, as that comes to 989 officers & men, which if one adds the 340 figure he came up with for the 30th Louisiana, is equal to his total.

That is a pretty good book. I read it back in August of 2013. Definitely one of the better volumes in the series.
