Looking for records on several men.

William M. Duggan, 39th GA Infantry Regt.


Jacob Dance

Residence Rushville IL;
Enlisted on 8/15/1861 as a Private.

On 8/19/1861 he mustered into "G" Co. IL 28th Infantry
He was Killed on 4/6/1862 at Shiloh, TN


Other Information:

Buried: Shiloh National Cemetery, Pittsburg Landing, TN
Gravesite: 1976



Francis Marion Ambrose, but he went by Frank. He would have been in the civil war. Born in 1833 in Tennessee. He was married in 1860 in Hawkins, North Carolina, but I never saw anything else on census records of him and his first wife. Don't know if they got divorced or if she died. And I don't know if he served.

And finally William W West b approx 1812 give +/~ a few year in Tn. He was on the 1860 census for Fenter township, Hot Spring. Ark. with his wife Elizabeth Whetstone West and children. But by 1865 he is nowhere to be found.

What do you have on Duggan?

What I find is that he disappears after being captured and paroled at Vicksburg:

H H Harris shows several under MS with 6th and 8th Cav's, also one for 1st Lt Artillery. Included is only one I see falling under Mississippi 1st State Troopers

there are several for a Frank Ambrose and they are all from Virginia regiments

same for William W West. Ironically enough, I have a William West on my wife's side of the family from Robeson, NC. I attached the one from MS thinking would be closest for possibly serving from TN or AR. However there are several CMSR files for a William W West with regiments from VA, TX, GA and SC

Curious - date of death and burial location is a match but I think the 1860 birth year is a FindAGrave G.I.G.O. for when that newish-looking headstone was made.
Also - note the clerical error on the death certificate as it's a one G Dugan and our man is a two G Duggan.
