I'm have a large backdrop printed, and this backdrop will serve as a temporary background for an exhibit of civil war items on tables, inside of a building that spread has modern items on display on its walls,,so a backdrop is needed to "block" the walls. (Think civil war display on tables set up in front of walls covered in sports memorabilia)
This backdrop will be 12 feet wide and 8 feet tall. I would prefer an original period b&w photo idea,,versus a modern present day photo. I've searched for battlefield after the battles, such as the bull run photo, the tristle barn photo, rose farm etc,, but I thought I would ask publicly what photos would make a good life sized backdrop? I've seen plenty, but it's one of things where I'm too indecisive,,maybe you all could help! Thx in advance, Jack

Depending on what most of the items in the display might be, perhaps a camp scene that would show examples of the items on display in their native habitat? Maybe groups of soldiers from different images, both North and South, to show uniforms and equipment? (That famous group of three Confederates at Gettysburg waiting to be taken prisoner comes to mind.)

Casualties on the battlefield.

Might be too messy/ busy- but I think a collage would best capture the tragic scope of the war.

Another thought- two images. One of Sumter, and another related to Appomattox. Maybe McLean house? The beginning and the end- bookending the items in your display.

Just ideas.

Since you are displaying relics, what about a photograph of one of the wartime Sanitary Fairs where Civil War relics were on display? This first photo is from the Philadelphia Sanitary Fair in June 1864. Library of Congress, Reproduction Number: LC-DIG-stereo-1s04579. The second photo is from the same fair, Library of Congress, Reproduction Number: LC-DIG-stereo-1s04583.
