Looking for help

My Great Great Grandfather, John Ross, served in Company E, 2nd Regiment of the Arkansas
Confederate Calvary. I've been trying to find the company roster of Company E and have,
thus far, been unsuccessful. I realize some Confederate records may be non-existent.
Found a John Ross 2nd Ark Cav UNION :

Ross, John

REGIMENT NAME:2nd Regiment, Arkansas Cavalry
SIDE:Union:
COMPANY:F
SOLDIER'S RANK IN Private
SOLDIER'S RANK OUT Private
There were maybe two regiments Confederate 2nd Arkansas Cavalry. I believe one rode with Morgan's Cavalry. There was also a 2nd Arkansas Mounted Rifles Confederate .

There is a record on a J. G. Ross , Age 23, who was 3rd Corpl in Company E of the 2nd Arkansas Cavalry (CS). There are three cards in his file but these records are very faded and hard to read. It appears the entire records for this unit are poor quality.
Here is the description of the regiment at the bottom of the NARA Cards.

Sometimes these soldiers will appear again in records of the previous unit or the final unit. Fold3 does not seem to have a folder for:
2nd Battalion Ark Cav
Barnett's Ark Cav
4th Regiment Cav
18th Battalion Cav
or
McMurtrey's Battalion Cav

But if you search the web or reference books for those regiments, who knows, you may find more about him and his unit.

A general search for "John Ross" found several in the infantry but there was one of interest listed under the folder:
Tenth (Witt's) Cavalry AND Fifteenth (Buster's) Battalion, Cavalry AND Forty-fifth Cavalry

His card listed his unit as Witt's Regiment 10 Ark Cavalry and McMurray's Company --- but no McMurtey's as noted above.
