Impressions Looking For Artillery Units

Hey all,

I've decided to get involved in ACW reenactments again after years of doing Indian Wars. The last time I was in the hobby, I leaned towards the progressive/ Campaigner side of things and did a really good job of hiding my gender ( if I do say so myself )

That said , I'm wanting to start out by doing artillery since I never got the opportunity to the last time around. Are there any upper mainstream/ progressive units in or around Virgina? Or at the very least travel pretty frequently to different locations?

Looking for Confederate or Federal? If Confederate and going mainstream check out the 1st Division ANV or Longstreet's Corps websites. They have all their member units, each have artillery, listed and most of them are in your general area. If you wanted to go the campaigner route the 1st Section associated with the Liberty Rifles are top notch.

Preferably Confederate or a unit that galvanizes. I reached out to Longstreets but no response so far. I'll check out 1st Division. I've seen 1st Section and I agree , they're definitely top notch. I don't think they'll let a "gal troop" in ,even though I pass pretty well for male. I kinda get why,though.

I don't know any artillery guys your way personally. If you don't find anything soon definitely come out to Cedar Creek in October, there's always alot of artillery there, I'm sure you'll find a home.
