In the Introduction to Edward G. Longacre's CUSTER: THE MAKING OF A YOUNG GENERAL (Skyhorse 2018) the author mentions plans for a second volume which would complete the coverage of Custer's Civil War career. I would be interested in any news regarding the publication of a second volume.

You might want to take a look at Gregory urwin's book, Custer victorious. Also, Adolfo Ovies is writing a trilogy on the relationship between custer and Wesley meritt during the Civil War. Volume one is already out. Finally, if you are interested in Custer in the closing days of the war, I'm the guy who knows about it. I've just finished an article for north and south on Custer at five Forks.
