I just came across a synopsis of a book called "Lincoln & Davis: A Dual Biography of America's Civil War Presidents," a 548 page paperback by Augustin Stucker. I haven't had a chance to read it, but the description mentions the similarities of the two. Both were born only eight months apart, both in Kentucky, they became the presidents of their respective countries prior to the outbreak of hostilities and that both worked tirelessly to avoid civil war up to the last minute before secession, and each man was considered a martyr to his respective cause. Now, IMHO, that is where the similarities basically end. To me, they seemed very different. Can anyone think of other ways in which they were similar or give us some examples of their differences?
