Well, I always feel a little bit squeamish on passing character assessments on men of high rank, though I did knock Buell around some. I would love to tag along and listen to the postings on your new thread. Please point it out with an url. so I can find it.

Well, short of relieving Longstreet from command, how could he sort things out? There were two major reasons why the attack at Seven Pines failed:

1. McClellan worked out what was happening quite early and had Sumner reinforce the right bank.
2. Longstreet.
