Johnston did he arrive with about 29,000 and if so, was this enough to hold Corinth. Do we have a good timeline on his thinking like did he change his mind on what he wanted to do. How does his call up of additional forces line up with his decision making.
What I am looking for is, was this a guy in control of himself thinking proactively or was this a shaken officer reacting to whatever intel flowed in.
It must have been demoralizing for him the preceding events, some can snap back quick others though are pretty much thru.
