He had remarkable luck when going against established tactics. Were it not for this luck we would not be having this discussion. What did he do that was remarkable?

I agree with you. Jackson was a better Commander than Lee. Again, why was Lee great?
Shh! Shh! We can't do that - we're talking about Lee!

Jackson didn't think he was better than Lee. Jackson took direction from Lee.
What does Cavalry provide? They provide security and reconnaissance. Tactics change. Again, we are deviating from Lee's greatest. I understand that you do not view Lee as great. Why do you like him?
I am not concerned with what Jackson thought. Objectively, Jackson was more of a a Strategist. If Lee was not great, why is he revered?
Lee never screwed up the way Jackson did in the Seven Days. Jackson's strategy in the Valley came from Lee.
Lee screwed up, your words, during the Overland campaign and the Battle of Gettysburg. Why is he relevant or reverend?

Is a blackjack player who splits face cards and draws an ace for each one a great player ?

Lee didn't screw up in the Overland Campaign, nor did he screw up in the Battle of Gettysburg. His decisions were correct based on what he knew at the time.
Revered. no reverand
Pickett's charge was not a screw up? You have not stated why Lee should be revered.
They're fighters, good men who did what they believed to be right, conducted themselves well in their lives. Pretty good generals, too - they were a match and it showed every time they met. Grant didn't win because he had more men and resources, nor did Lee lose because he was a crummy general. Somebody's got to do both, in a war, and both generals were determined they weren't going to be the one yelling 'uncle'.
They were not all good men. Lee's slaughtered Americans of African decent when they surrendered, and after they lost the war.
