I have this book, an original copy, I think. I love it! Being a former nurse, I can laugh at some of the remedies, others probably were effective. I've thought about taking it to camp with me to read to the other women. I think they'd enjoy it. I know I do!

How did people ever survive medical treatments of the day !?

How did they survive medical treatments of the day? Well they didn't. The lucky ones or ones with strong constitutions did.
Some treatments were safe. Many were quite addicting like laudanum for the "vapors".

You know, while I was laughing my er, well, laughing, thinking what a hoot our Victorians could be- had a flash of folks wondering what to make of products they'll be bumping into 150 years from now, poking around back here. It's not going to be pretty.
