Mike, excellent images as always. Could you post an enlargement of that part of the first image that shows the bayonet and the end of the muzzle of the M1841? Actual pics of M1841s with bayonets (particularly a sword bayonet) attached are scarce, so this would be a very useful. Thanks.
 
Here is the largest version of the photo out of the frame. (I don't know if removing photos from frames is something new for the LOC but I've not noticed this in the past.)

There is a much larger version of the photo in the frame but I can't retrieve it with the newest version of Safari. It's at loc.gov. Enter 26462 in the search box. I hope this helps.
 
Goodness Mike--even better. If I tried hard I'd probably be able to make out the maker's mark.
