In a less serious note than most of our screeds, which of the following units would be more suitable for crowd control at Wisconsin's State Capital?

The 1st Minnesota. With Minnesota and Wisconsin having a longstanding traditional rivalry (Re: The Little Brown Jug Game), the Minnesotans would have no dog in this fight and would, presumably, favor neither side. One thing you can bet on they would be able to absorb punishment.

Or,

The Iron Brigade. The three Wisconsin Reg's know the Players and the Field. Also are widely representative of the State and would, in theory, favor no side. In addition their brothers from Michigan and Indiana would undoubtedly defer to their Wisconsin comrade. Toughness? Manassas 2, Antietem/Sharpsburg and Gettysburg, address that Question.

My vote, remuster the Iron Brigade at Camp Randall for duty in Madison!

Remember, this is only, repeat only, in jest, you serious CW men and women!

Klink,I have to vote no on the 1st Minnesota-they'd be seen as outside agitators and the tip of the spear for a second Viking invasion of America.I propose the 28th Wisconsin, based on that Regiment's experience in crowd control during the draft riots in Ozaukee County(WI),1862.Second choice is the Permanent Guard,Wisconsin Infantry(seriously), a stellar militia unit most of whose members served their entire term at Camp Randall in Madison. The Guard's intimate knowledge of Madison bars, eateries and pleasure spots would promote a one-big-happy party atmosphere.Roll out the barrel!
