It's obvious that we all have a love of history, and something of a touch of disdain when the great nation of Hollywood gets its hands on it, so...
Just for kicks, let's say that you are going to make the ultimate movie on the Civil War. You get to chose the particular event and cast it with anyone you want, living or dead.
Mine is Brice's Crossroads, with Jack Black as Gen. Samuel Sturgis, and Robert Downey Jr. as 'That Guy.'
Okay, any takers?

Robert Downey, Jr.??? Seriously????

When ya'll get around to making this movie be sure to film it in Mississippi at the Brice's Crossroads battlefield. We need those Hollywood $dollars$.
Sure 'nuff. A student film company just wrapped up shooting a documentary on the Siege of Nashville and shot quite a bit of stock in and around ...Greenwich, CT.???

I would love to see a movie on the Battle of Chickamauga (has there ever been one made on it?). The cast of Tombstone (Kurt Russell version) was excellent. So I'd have Kurt Russell, Val Kilmer, Sam Elliott, Bill Praxton, Powers Boothe....not much of a Kevin Costner fan but he did good in Hatfield & McCoy's so bring him in too. The guy that played Longstreet in Gettysburg......last name starts with a B.....have him replay Longstreet in this one too.

Tom Berenger. Yeah, a very versatile actor. Great Choices! No, don't think Chickamauga has ever been done, even in a documentary, and hope someone will inform me if I'm wrong.

Robert Downey, Jr.??? Seriously????
Sure, why not? He has the eyes and attitude for it.

Supposedly, Ron Perlman and James Remar are are interested in the hobby and have done ACW reenactments. Hmm...now who could Perlman (Hellboy) and Remar (The Warriors, 48 Hours) portray?...

Of course! But honestly, they're all too old....and have you seen Val Kilmer lately? :) He could possibly play Winfield Scott....:)
