I seem to remember this gun at a somewhat dubious auction in Maryland a couple of years ago, there were lots that had to be removed from the auction due to being fake. There was a confederate forage cap and uniform that were removed.
Major Richard B Winder's Army Colt Pocket was engraved in script Major R.B. Winder, CSA and was for sale by Heritage Auctions in 2000. He was the son of John Winder. John Winder would have had access to the finest jewelers in Richmond, since he was the Provost in Richmond and would most likely not have had the type of scratched engraving evidenced on this piece. Just my opinion, but I didn't think this was Winder's gun at the Tinonium, MD auction and still do not.
