Longstreet James Longstreet featured on Wikipedia

Hey folks,

just read the (apparently already a month old) news that the James Longstreet article on the English-speaking Wikipedia has been approved to become a featured article, so it is now one of the roughly 6000 articles (about 0.09% of total articles) deemed to be the pinnacle of quality. It had been a good article already but has been greatly improved over the last few years with most of that work being by a single dedicated editor (not me). Being just approved; it will be Wikipedia's featured article, so put most prominently (with picture) on the top left of the main page, on December 11.

Most prominent articles don´t get much rest; be it from current updates, improvements, vandalism, reversals or repairs.

Well, as expected the day brought lots of attention. From less than 1000 views per day (on average) to over 61.000 views; and about 70 new edits (including some vandalism of course).

Where did you find the number of views? I don't have an account. Maybe I overlooked it... or do you need to be logged in to view them?

Should be no need to log in. There are at least two ways to get a viewcount. The one I used is to go on the talk page (button right above the name/heading) where a daily pageview graph has been added (which is not always the case). If you click on "Daily pageviews" (the linked word) you get an external page with more detailed and customizable statistics. The other way is to click on "Page information" in the left-side menu (under Tools); then you can either click on the number for "Page views in the past 30 days" to get a basic graph or scroll completely down where you´ll find the earlier-described external tool page under "Page view statistics".
