HF Jack Hinson Novel

Historical-Fiction
If you donated to his cause you'd get one of those prints for free. Seriously, if I had contributed, I don't know what I'd do. How do you say "No, thanks"?

I sorta hate to make fun of this dude, since he comes off as a nice guy, but I am actually embarrassed he thought those "paintings" were publishable. I can't imagine how his publisher thought those were appropriate for anything, anywhere. They are some of the worst pieces of art I've ever seen.

Also why is there a guy running with a piece of KFC?

So now there's two fiction books written about Jack Hinson?

Watched the music video. The problem with the claim about the "farmer who brought the yankees to their knees" is that there is no record that the yankees gave any thought at all to Hinson. No evidence of his sons being beheaded. No evidence of the cavalry regiment losing even a single man to a sniper. No evidence of the boat thing. It's all a fairy tale.
I apologize for posting that music video, then!

It wasn't the beheading that confused me; it was how we know they were really squirrel-hunting when they had arrested before for being spies before. We have no idea what was really going on, or why they were executed.

Some aspects of Jack Hinson's story, like the number of claimed kills (100+) from his sniping actions, are difficult to believe.

Would treat the popularly told version of his life as a tale - combining truth and imagination (necessary for any historical fiction work).

I never understood why his notches stopping at 37 means that he "lost count". Doesn't that mean he killed 37 men?

This is more reasonable. But if his 36 claim was mostly shots at passing boats, how did he confirm them as "kills?"
Anybody familiar with WWII knows that pilots routinely claimed more kills than were actually verified. If Hinson is claiming kills from a distance of a half mile on boats we have a similar problem. It's not like his retriever was bringing them back to him.
