Isaac Smith in a hurricane

Ran across this in the wiki article (citing DANFS) on USS Isaac Smith, a purchased steamer/gunboat which took part in the expedition to Port Royal in November 1861:

"An intense hurricane occurred during the voyage south compelling the ship to jettison her guns. ….


During a reconnaissance in force on 4 and 5 November 1861, Isaac Smith engaged and repelled three attacking Confederate steamers and silenced batteries at Hilton Head and Bay Point, South Carolina. Two days later she towed sailing sloop-of-war Vandalia into action during the landings which wrested Port Royal from Confederate hands"

Obvious question, if she jettisoned her guns, how was she repelling and silencing a few days later? I'd always assumed that jettison meant all guns and that towing Vandalia was her sole contribution to battle. Her armament is given as one 30-pounder Parrott rifle, presumably a pivot gun, and eight 8" Dahlgren smoothbores. The carriage guns would be easier to pitch over the side, so perhaps they only deep-sixed (deep-eighted?) some or all of those, retaining the Parrott, which was lighter but still probably harder to dismount and toss. Anyone know?

p.282- 15 Nov 1861- ""At noon a shot from Bay Point battery struck the fore gaff, cutting it in two. This was the only damage sustained, the enemy throwing their shot directly over and beyond us. I fired from the Parrott 30-ponder 28 shells at the batteries and 3 at the steamers to the northward; in all, 31 shell."
