Interesting relations

The place where he died on the Spangler Farm. Circa 2008.

Is that it? I've read the scene described, for some reason never looked up the building, guess it never occurred to me it still existed. How sobering, thinking he was right there, took his last trip from that place. Makes you awfully glad Gettysburg became ' sacred' as a battlefield and veritable soldier's cemetery by July 5th, 1863. Gave us places like this, otherwise may have been just one, more Pennsylvania farm shed which rotted to pieces over time. Thanks for posting this!

Sorry for the delay y'all, I honestly didn't think anyone would care lol, but to end the the suspense, it's Lewis Armistead. Our English ancestry is intertwined, and it appears we are cousins. Pretty cool stuff this ancestry research. I'll post more when I know more!

I heard a joke about ancestry research the other day.

Two ladies were at a ritzy party and one exclaimed to the other, "I just finished researching our family ancestry and found out that my family has ancestors dating back to the Crusades! Do you know anything about your family ancestry?"

The other lady replied, "Unfortunately, no. All of our family records were destroyed in the flood."

Regardless of how far the relationship is, I shall henceforward refer to Armistead as "Uncle Lo"

Pam (pamc153pa) has LOTS of photos of his marker there (and the summer kitchen) because I live vicariously through her trips and make her "pat" him for good luck every time she goes. Every single time. She apparently does some fancy rope jumpin' these days to get to it, too. :)

where I work there are two ladies that have been employed there each for more then twenty years, a few years ago they both showed up at a family reunion and found out they were cousins!
They still don't like each other much...
