...my wife, in her genealogical research, has discovered that one of her ancestors was John Lee of Coton Hall near Alvely in England. If I have this right, two of his sons emigrated to the Colonies, and one of them is the direct ancestor of Robert E. Lee. (My wife is descended from a branch of the family that stayed in England till the 20th Century.) We'll be visiting a church in Alvely when we're over there next summer, and I think there's some sort of Lee plaque there; I'll be sure to get a photo of it for anyone here that may be interested.

Oh, by the way, the former John Lee estate (with a more modern house on it) appears to be for sale. Anyone have two million pounds sitting around not doing anything?
