Greetings.

This is my first attempt at taking my Gettysburg order of battle spreadsheet, incorporating lat/long, and building an interactive map.

With this map you can select a time period, select one of three map types, and click on an icon to reveal information about the unit.

I'm going to work at improving the look of the icons for the next map, which will be the attack of Rodes's Division.

As always, I appreciate feedback and comments.

The map link is here... https://rpubs.com/undsioux88/july1_map1

The raw data is here, under the "working" spreadsheet... https://github.com/datameister66/Gettysburg

Regards, Cory

Thank You Sir. I've already started working on the next edition, which I hope to release in a couple of weeks, complete with better unit icons. This will be day one, from 12:30 to approximately 3:30, and will encompass the whole battlefield. I hope to get to the battlefield sometime this fall to re-map and refine my GPS coordinates and crosswalk them with unit markers etc.

Hi Cory -- > new to these forums but I am a data guy and would love to help! It would be interesting to overlay some of the traditional battlefield markers with your work, and then correlate some of the after-action reports, etc. with your fantastic mappings! and of course, make it through all three days of the battle. Let me know how I can help!

Indeed. I'll be walking the ground this weekend, and have ticket in hand to see the Reenactment on Friday (The Iron Brigade fight of course, my old active duty unit, 2nd Bde, 1st Armored Division, commanded by non other than COL Montgomery Miegs). I'll be camping at the Garryowen Pub around 1400 hours to chuckle at what the rest of the world calls "Football".
