I thought it might be time for a little lighter fare. So here's a thread on hats and bonnets from the Civil War era that compares and contrasts the actual millinery worn by women and those worn by our heroines from the movies.
According to Poor Richard's Almanack from the 1700s, superstition demanded that one wear new clothes for Easter:
"At Easter let your clothes be new, Or this be sure you it will rue."
