two colts with rusted on nipples. tried everything. Kroil, heat cold etc.
has anyone tried an impact drill on rusted on nipples? Ken

Never tried the impact but a drill press can work if you got a tight fitting nipple wrench. Or make one with a file and a 1/4 socket. Just don't turn it on, you supply the power by rocking it back and forth. I've also had some luck by placing the cylinder in a freezer for a few days. Just wrap it in a plastic bag or some other barrier. The wife don't like gun oil in "her" freezer.

I hate to say it but sometimes its best to let sleeping dogs lie. If you twist off and break a nipple with nothing for a wrench to grip you've got a real mare's nest. And you risk damaging the original cylinder. Now you could start with small drill bits and carefully drill away the nipple, using progressively larger bits until you could use a punch to collapse the threaded base away from the nipple seat. I've also seen how the nipple was broken off and a screw driver slot was cut across the shoulder and a drill press used with screw driver shank to turn out the nipple. BUT DO NOT TURN THE PRESS ON!!! If Kroil with silicon and heat failed you could try soaking the cylinder in Evapo-Rust but I can't promise success. (The silicon Kroil is supposed to be better than the original formula) What heat source did you try ?
I've seen some needle fine welding torch tips that have worked.
