Identified Charcoal photo

I am looking for more for information charcoal artistry. From what I have heard is that some artist would travel door to door selling their service . I also have heard that the bodies were drawn 1st and then draw the face afterwards at the customers home . This one in my collection is Harrison Carey Co. F 16th. Wis Inf . Harrison was married one month before was sent way . He was killed in the early morning of the first day of the battle of Shilo. The artist drew F 16 on the brim of his hat and there is a locket of his hair and his name on the bottom right corner of the picture. My wife says it is haunted as the eyes follow you no matter where you are standing (which they do ) lol . I believe that his wife would have made this post war from a CDV or tin type photo. This artist was very good as I have seen some of these where the head is twice the size of the body and vice versa. Thank you in advance !

I don't think this is a charcoal drawing - I've seen too many things like this, and believe they were commercially-done enlargements of earlier photographs (in this case a tintype or an ambrotype) that have been edited (photoshopped) to enhance them as wall hangings. It's nevertheless a fine period piece and you are right to be proud of it! Welcome to the forums.
