Hi Folks -

Don't get here often, but I've been sorting through a lot of old boxes and came across this old framed photo. I've had it forever, but still don't have a clue as to who these fellows are.

Thought maybe a GAR pic, Indian Wars, SA War...., etc?? Don't believe it could be CW Era. Well, great frame and you may see a ghostly hand reflected in the right side.

Thanks for looking!

- Mike

The swords look like a mix of Model 1860 Staff and Field Officer swords and Model 1872 Cavalry Officer swords. The guy sitting second from right appears to have a GAR membership badge. I imagine the uniform styles will provide a tighter date range.

Lack expertise on this. Am guessing they are wearing 1872 pattern US Cavalry dress uniforms. (Their kepi cap insignias show crossed sabers with edge upwards, and can see at least one individual wearing a GAR membership badge which began in use in 1869).

The regiment number (shown above the crossed saber insignias) is indecipherable in these photographs.

I keep reading about these programs that will search the internet and find your image for you. Maybe we could run this one through? It looks like something that will exist in other places.

I will refer to my daughter for this one! I don't even have a cell phone...., especially after watching the wife and daughter fight with theirs.

Thanks Nathan! Will see if I can get a better look at the insignia.
