I told my wife that 3 hats ago this year.....last one

This is a touchy subject.
The amount of time I spend taking everything down to change one little thing is actually embarrassing.

I'd like to see some pics of some quality HOME displays. No store displays, no picnic table spreads, no "line 'em up on the floor and take a pic" displays. I really want to see some actual well thought out home displays, either in your man cave or home office or den. Have you dedicated a room that others can "ooh and ahh?" Show us how artistic you all are when it comes to displaying your wares! Are your muskets hung? Do you have them on stands or framed? I'd have posted this under contemporary photos, but it's all about the weapons and how you show them. Let's see it!
This is a display I put together for a grouping that belonged to my Gr Gr Gr Grandfather in the civil war. I found it about a year ago and was able to rally members of my family to donate to return it to the family. Came with a notarized/ itemized letter from my long lost

cousin who sold it to a collector back in 1998. The last muster roll from his service in 1865 mentions that he retained one set of side arms for $11.

Don't ya hate it when Relatives/Family sell off Family Heirlooms without the permission of others. So what the rest of you do give your Cousins a nice blanket party?

Lol! Yeah maybe. Not sure he's still alive though. I have been unable to locate him as of yet. I know his name and the general area where he lived at the time. I know his mother died a year or so after he sold it. Maybe she had cancer or something? I don't blame him(much).

What a collection.....wow.
Thanks! I had heard 35 years ago that it existed from my great aunt who saw it when she was a little girl. She had no idea who had it or where it was. I've been looking off and on for it ever since. It's amazing how whole branches of the family can just disappear. Even today, I can't find these people. I know they exist(ed). They do have a common name, Miller, which makes it more difficult. It's almost like they don't want to be found.

All of you guys have awesome collections that are so nicely displayed. I always come back to this thread to look at all the cool stuff. I really need to put my collection together since it's scattered all over multiple states. The dream is to one day get a man cave and nicely display everything

I have no ACW ancestor. My sister-in-law, however, does. Her side of the family split up the ancestor's artifacts but slowly, most of it has been handed to me. I consider myself to be a mere custodian and the descendents, including my blood nephews and niece, to be the real owners. If they want everything back, I will surrender it in the hope that they can conserve the group and respect its origin.

I've found that most of the family just want to know where it is, and that it's well taken care of. It's actually some work to monitor things like humidity, temperature, and security in taking care of family relics. It's a big responsibility that most don't really want to take on.
