Holy Moly....Joe Wheeler?

Don't you love Ancestry for exactly this kind of thing? Their advertising campaigns have been brilliant- the guy who was raised revering his German background, took the DNA test, transpired he was Scots? And the woman who has George W. ( the first one..... ) in her tree and was clueless- now you've found Wheeler.

But, didn't the Mayflower land in Texas? :giggle: What are Wheelers doing in New England?

I just snapped to an obvious point....I almost have to be distantly related to Joe Wheeler because he was a New England Wheeler...and my gggrandmother's family was, too.

Like we've discussed, I might not have picked him, but looks like I have him!
If you're related to Joe Wheeler, you're also related (distantly) to Andrew Hull Foote, the Union Flag Officer (later admiral) who was so important on the Mississippi in early 1862. Foote was also related (on the other side) to Harriet Beecher Stowe. Small world.

If you are related to the admiral, then you are related to Shelby!
