Not quite Civil War, but shortly afterwards. For all lovers of the "Four-Footed Friends" Forum. Taken at Ft. Laramie, Wyoming:

Had to dig out the flash drive for this one too. Wasn't sure I had even saved this picture. This one sits all by itself on a 2 lane highway just outside of Rusk,Texas. I did a 2 day whirlwind CW tour of East Texas in January 2017 and Rusk was my last stop on the way home and this was the last picture I took.

but more frequently, it's because it's the only evidence that anything ever happened at that place...
That's the case with the pictures I am posting. Nothing but a sign marks the spot.

Ran across this one on the highway between Clinton,Louisiana and Camp Moore in March 2017. Had to do a u-turn and go back for a picture. Didn't realize what it was until I was already on it and going too fast to stop.

I really appreciate this thread. This should be in the "you know you are obsessed with the civil war" thread. Because if you are anything like me you have either

a) researched where markers are when planning civil war trips as part of your stops, or

b) pull over to read and/or photograph markers when driving anywhere or

c) get super excited when you see a marker while driving that you didn't know about and

d) scare anyone else in the car when braking hard or pull a U-turn to get out and read the marker or

e) all the above

More than once have I been with family and made detours for markers, much to the disdain of my family. That's why I always drive!
