Help!!

I have been trying to get into civilian reenacting for quite some time now, but with no avail. I recently moved to Long Island, New York, and cannot seem to find any groups/ units in my area. I would love to go to an event but cannot seem to be allowed to register by myself. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance.

I can sure understand where you are coming from. I live in Arkansas and am a single mom. I wanted to get into this hobby so bad with my little girl and was not welcomed in with the first unit I got associated with. Even the one married woman was not that welcoming ..anyway..am not sure what it is like up in New York, but I was fortunate enough to get involved with a medical unit which has now turned into an independant med unit . I wonder if maybe a site like livinghistoryworldwide.com could be of some help? It is worth a try...let me know I might have a few other web sites to offer.

It's a bit of a drive for you, but you could consider coming down to Gettysburg. You could make a weekend trip of it. We get people from up your way all the time.
