Help with found cannonball

Well I shook it and could hear something inside like a piece of metal jingling in there, I have a 6 pound solid cannonball , I can tell you for sure it wasn't solid and had a cast mold seam around it, wish I could have identified it before they took it

Thank you for the explanation. From what I could see in the photos provided it appeared to have no provision for a fuse of any type, correct?

It almost felt like clay inside and maybe a dime size hollow center, correct itdud not have a fuse that I could see

Or maybe lead maybe that's y they had such a hard time with the xray
