Can y'all help me with my ancestors, ones name was John c McArthur and the other one was Moses Vernon both where from Mississippi. I want to know more about their service in ww2 and I know it's not civil war but I have always wanted to know more about them

We focus on Civil War records at this website. As much as we'd like to help everyone every time we simply can't. But I think you have seen how we do other searches when you've asked about Civil War era ancestors so you should be able to make a few searches yourself. Family Search is a free website for genealogy and it's very simple to enter information and get records back.

Also, you will need a lot more information than just their names. You can get a good start by entering their names, birth dates, & hometown into Ancestry.

I have used family search and it has them on there but nothing about service. The only place I found something is fold3 and I don't wanna spend the money for a premium subscription. Thanks for the reply

I see a lot of inquiries asking if there is a roster of soldiers in an infantry division in WW2. It isn't quite like a Civil War regimental roster.
The WW2 infantry division had 15,005 men in their organization. If you include those who rotated in and out over 1 or 2 years, you could be searching through 20,000 to 25,000 men.
Start with family letters and documents. Talk to everyone in your family---anyone he might have written while he was in the service; brother, sister, sheriff or Sunday School teacher.

I agree with you - if all you want to see is one or two records, then a subscription to Fold3 is just too expensive, and there tends to not be a lot on WW II vets anyway due to privacy concerns, since some of them are still living.

John C McArthur is just too common a name to look for. There was a registration card for a Moses Vernon, b. 1911, but I don't know if that's your guy or not.

Source information: Fold3, Moses W Vernon (https://www.fold3.com/memorial/87944098/moses-w-vernon : accessed 14 Jan 2022), database and images, https://www.fold3.com/memorial/87944098/moses-w-vernon

As a side note, there were also three Moses Vernons who fought in the Civil War, although none from Mississippi - they were from Georgia, Arkansas, and Missouri.

Check Fold3 around Memorial Day - they usually put some records available for free to mark the occasion.

Hope this helps. I recommend printing it out, in case it gets taken down for not being Civil War related (I did what I could on that score, but just didn't have enough information to go on....)
