Help with ancestor

Hello can y'all help me find more about my ancestor his name was William S. Taylor. He was born in 1835 and his death date is unknown. He lives in Alabama but moved to noxubee county Mississippi before the war. I'll leave a link to his family search page

So, as you can see above, your link is the sign in page and doesn't thus provide any additional info to your post. Taylor is a common name so more information would help a lot. I did look at the Mississippi pensions and there was no one with that name.

I believe he started the war with the 1st Mississippi infantry and ended it with the 10th Mississippi Calvary

William S taylor was born in 1835 in Alabama. His death date was unknown. He was married to Matura Ann cotton who was born in 1841 and her death date is unknown. His son who is my g g g grandfather is George Walton Taylor 1869-1948

Too easy. So a quick search on research online shows two of that name.

Do you have access to Ancestry? There is a huge packet of chancery court documents that look to be filed after William S died, about 1874. George is listed as a minor child, along with Florence, William, and Bettie K. Does that fit?

Deep in the court records the death date of 29 October 1873 appears.

I can't get you all that is in there and put it on here. It would be worth your time to find a library that would let you use ancestry - court papers like these are very interesting

possibly. I'd try looking at pensions for that. You can do that without Ancestry at the Mississippi website -

Here are the service records (or what's left of them) for the William S. Taylor is in the 10th MS CaValry: https://catalog.archives.gov/id/144529260

The service records for the soldier in the 1st MS Inf. (10 pages) don't appear to be on NARA's site but they are on Fold3 which is a paid site. If you don't have a subscription, then there are a variety of legal ways to access it for free as described on my blog here.
