Can I have help researching my ancestor his name was Thomas F Ware Senior and he was born in 1834 and died in 1893 in Mississippi. He may have been in the 4th Alabama infantry at least that's what my family says

He is buried in Perkinsville Cemetery, Winston Co., MS. I don't find any good prospects for him for service in AL or MS. The closest is Thomas A. Weir of Co. H, 11th AL Inf.

His obituary doesn't mention military service. But he is registered among military graves with the American Legion and the form has a hand-written note of "CSA" at the top.

The regimental history for the 4th AL Inf.:

Coles, R. T. (Robert T.). From Huntsville to Appomattox : R.T. Coles' history of 4th Regiment, Alabama Volunteer Infantry, C.S.A., Army of Northern Virginia. (Knoxville, Tennessee : University of Tennessee, c1996).

does not mention him. It doesn't purport to have a full roster, however.

1850 Census: Oktibbeha [County], Miss.: he is a 16 year old student in the household of Mrs Margaret Ware; with Margaret and Thomas are John Ware? (23) and Jane Ware (19) as well as Thomas Adams (26), overseer. On the slave schedule, a Margaret Ware is listed with 12 slaves (ranging from 3 yrs. to 50)

1860 Census: cannot find him-if he did, indeed, serve in Alabama, that is where he may be.

1870 Census: Police Beat 5, Oktibbeha [County], Miss. He is a 37 year old farm laborer with Elizabeth (39), William (15), Thos. Jr. (11), Robert (3 or 5) and Joseph (2)

1880 Census: Webster, Winston [County], Miss. He is a farmer with wife, Elizabeth and 8 sons & daughters.

According to the censuses, he was born in South Carolina.

There is information added but the gravestone record says that he was born Oct. 4, 1834 and that he died Jan 8, 1893 [only 1 day off from the grave registration [post #2, above].

I was unable to find him on HDS.

His name was often misspelled like that and his nick name was Adam if I recall so that would explain the a. Was company h formed in Mississippi?
Note that the we're talking about the 11th AL, not the 4th.

The 11th AL Inf. was raised from the Alabama counties of Bibb, Clarke, Fayette, Greene, Marengo, Perry, Pickens, Tuscaloosa, and Washington. I'm not aware of a breakdown by company.

That wouldn't stop somebody from MS from enlisting in it, of course.

I traced 1 relative back to his service in the American Revolution. The direct relative before him that led me to him had his named misspelled on almost every Census. Guess those doing the Census door to door were not English Majors in College! Also 1 of my direct relatives in the ACW served under an alias (may have been several reasons why) but he got his pension by proving who he was thru witnesses. It's just one big puzzle you have to work on to get to the bottom of it. I actually visited the Mormon Records center in Salt Lake City, Utah to help me in my findings. Happy Hunting.

After doing further research I believe he was in the 2nd Mississippi as there is a Thomas ware in the muster role
Are you referring to this unit--- 2nd Mississippi Battalion(Harris), Cavalry Reserves ?
This is the only card in his file. The name of this unit sounds like it an early War unit but it just as well could be a late-war unit. Either way, it was a short-lived unit that seems to have few records.

I had some family connections to some WARE's in Carroll County, MS. I checked the records of both regiments(or companies) and did not find a Thomas Ware/Weir.
