Help With a CS Plate

I can't believe that auction house, you'd think they wouldn't want the stigma of selling bad pieces. They better make it right.
I don't think a lot of them care. I recently won an auction for an original box of 36 caliber cartridges for "Colt or Whitney" revolvers. When I hadn't received an invoice 2 weeks after receiving the confirmation email on placing the winning bid, I was informed that they actually didn't have that item.

So they listed, described and sold an item they actually did not have. I left them a scathing review online but it was just one of many about this auction company.

There are some good auction companies out there auctioning legitimate items, but I've seen too many "authentic Confederate" items selling for a couple hundred dollars instead of the thousands a real item would cost.

caveat emptor

That's absolutely crazy!! Something similar happened to my friend as well, he won a sash and the auction or seller never responded to him or shipped it out! I bet the seller didn't like the final price and just ignored the sale

I didn't know they could do that! If it is a no reserve, HOW can they do that?

I'm not even sure, he was very excited to get it and 2 weeks went by with no response from either the auction or seller. I actually wanted to trade him for the sash so I lost out too 😓. Even our favorite eBay scammers sell at auctions and never get stopped. I think when so much money rolls in, it's like who cares.

I sent them the pics and all the information you guys provided me and explained where it came from. I wanted the piece for display so I made them an offer. She passed it on they got right back to me and they refunded the majority of my money and I kept the buckle.

Thanks Salterr, and everyone else that helped out!

What auction house? Same happened to me at a well known Auction House Bonhams out of California many years ago. I won a Rev War Spontoon but they had no reserve or start price on it. They then claimed it did not get the price the owner who put it up for auction wanted. Tough luck that's the risk you take! They put it up again the next auction and it went for 3 times what I originally won it for. Bonhams still owes me about $80 for another Rev War polearm I won many years ago that arrived damaged. They claimed the shipper did it but the shipper had a pic of the damage when they picked it up from them. $80 and a Blacksmith metalworker repaired it.
