Hi! I am new here but am looking for information and help with valuing a Civil War book.

I recently came into possession of Hand Grips: The Story of the Great Gettysburg Reunion by Comrade Walter H Blake. I tried researching this book online and, while there are digital copies available, there are very few records of this book selling online or in libraries. I’ve mostly seen it referenced in academic papers.

Is this book valuable? If so, I’d like to sell it into good hands to someone who would appreciate it. I just have no idea of it’s value or price.

The book shows signs of wear but the spine is in good condition.

If it is valuable, any idea of how to get it appraised?

ABE Books has a first edition listed for $200. I think that's seriously optimistic. The demand is very small, and reprints are available for much less. I would estimate a realistic price in reasonable condition to be $50-75.

I bought my copy for $5 at a yard sale back in the '80s.

Thanks so much! Including some more pictures for interest. The publication date is 1913. The book is not in mint condition - it in many ways looks about 100 years old (I’m keeping it in a bag to protect it).

It’s definitely an interesting book! It was recently passed on to me; I was curious if it had any value or would be better off in someone’s collection who would appreciate it
