Distant cousins of mine John Lewis Hillenburg Jr and John Lewis Hillenburg III:

He and his father enlisted in the Union army during the Civil war. both men were held prisoners by the Confederates in the Andersonville prison. His father was held for 11 months and John spent six months there.

John enlisted with Co. F, 93rd Reg. Indiana Infantry on Christmas Eve of 1863 and received an honorable discharge on Nov 10, 1865.

So you know of the Young family then?

Ok guys, I checked the 1860 census for Davidson County. And looked at the w-y index and looked at all ''Young'' surnames. There's only two possible people who could be B.F. Young in the 11th tenneessee....my grandfather Benjamin. Or a man named Boyd Young. I looked up Boyd Young on FamilySearch and a ''Boyd M Young'' popped up. Says he was married in 1867 in Williamson, Tennessee. The next county down from Davidson.

You say John ....Jr and John....III are cousins, then you state that John enlisted in Co.F, 93rd Indiana (USA) Which John are you referring to?

I apologize for missing this post and that I was unclear - the two men were father and son, both men served in the 93rd Indiana Infantry. The son enlisted a year after the father. They both served at one point in Company K but I believe were captured in separate units at the Battle of Brice's Crossroads. They were imprisoned at Andersonville (under variations of Hillenburg) where the father was paroled, the son survived the war and luckily missed the sinking of the Sultana.

John Jr. was my fourth Great Granduncle (brother of my fourth Great Grandmother Polly Magdalena Hillenberg) so John III is my first cousin 5x removed.
