Help identifying a bayonet

Never seen this type before for a lug with brass handle and push button release. European likely, or a ACW import?

Not Austrian or Brit & not a French model that I can think of. Might be one of the myriad civilian manufactured ones for arms like the M1817 that were privately done for the militia market.

My father has one that looks similar to this. He told me that it is European.

Import, it looks rather like one for a Brunswick Rifle; but on closer examination, I believe that it is a Piedmont Model 1844 Artillery bayonet. These were made in Italy and used for over 50 years. I don't know if any of these weapons were imported during the Civil War.

1844 Piedmontese bayonet. I would have to check my notes, but I believe a few hundred were imported early in the war by Union buyer Marcellus Hartley, mostly to keep them out of CS hands. 2nd class weapons.
