Titles and photos from the National Archives. Has anyone heard of this man? What about the medal? He can't be the Boss Tweed? Thanks.

Maybe William Magear Tweed, Jr. (1845-1902), son of Boss Tweed. He turns up in the postwar years as "General Tweed," using New York militia organizations to further the family political influence. He was made Engineer-in-Chief of the New York State Militia in 1869.
