asking for help in possibly identifying or narrow down what I believe to be a period image of a uniformed confederate soldier. It appears to be a frock coat of gean wool material and dark most likely blue collar? The buttons appear to be wooden?they seem to be larger then the period brass buttons. But I believe the photographer still "tinted" them gold for the illusion of metal/brass buttons. The lad looks younger. Of course there is now back mark and it's history is lost to the ages..... so may I ask for your opinions?

Very possibly Confederate, but also very difficult to tell. Judging branch-of-service or state affiliation is likely impossible.

Yes the image is in rather good condition but details that could give clues to his all alliance is difficult to determine. I thought it would be fun to start a conversation and see what every thought!
